Garima is a documentary filmmaker, independent social sciences researcher and freelance journalist based in New York and Mumbai.
Her wide-ranging interests include global power structures/economics, religion, tradition, climate change, inter-community dynamics, and built environments.
As a freelance producer her work includes premium documentaries for broadcast (PBS, BBC, ARD Germany and more) and theatrical release, including projects helmed by Oscar, Peabody, Emmy, and BAFTA winning directors and producers, as well as funded developments for Netflix, Amazon, and Red Bull Media HQ.
As an independent documentary maker, Garima is currently Co-Producing Imperial Illusions, an independent feature documentary about the British Empire and how it used Law, Propaganda and Secrecy to maintain its control over the colonies while claiming to abide by Liberal, Humanist principles.
Garima is also directing her debut feature documentary, "Between Two Worlds", in India.

As a researcher Garima is a recipient of the EU's Erasmus Mundus Svaagata scholarship and the Sahapedia-UNESCO fellowship. Her work has appeared on national and international platforms as well as the peer-reviewed Onati Socio-Legal Review. She graduated from the University of Groningen with a Research Master in Religion and Theology.
